Should You Attempt a DIY Bathroom Remodel or Hire a Professional?
Each year, around 36% of Americans take on a DIY project in an effort to improve their home. If you’ve been considering a DIY bathroom remodel yourself, you’re probably wondering whether it’s worth your time and energy or if you’re better off hiring a professional contractor.
Wonder no more! Read the rest of this article to find out what to consider before making your decision.

What to Consider Before Attempting a DIY Bathroom Remodel
If you’re thinking about doing the project yourself, you need to know what you’re getting into. Here are a few things to think about before getting started.
What Needs to Get Done
First things first, consider what you actually plan to do. If your plans include painting your cabinets and installing new lighting, that’s a relatively small-scale project that even an inexperienced DIYer can handle.
However, if you want to replace your bathtub or shower, that’s a much more complicated project. If you don’t have experience as a contractor, attempting to do that yourself will likely only lead to problems.
How Much Time You Have
Next, consider how much time you have to dedicate to the project. If you work full-time, doing a DIY project means committing most of your free time to this project. This means you’ll have less time for your children, spouse, friends, and hobbies. Are you willing to give that up?
How Much You Need the Space
Before committing to a DIY bathroom remodel, you also need to think about logistics. For example, are you planning to renovate your home’s only bathroom? If so, how long can it comfortably stay out of commission? Even if it’s not your only bathroom, keep in mind that your project could take several weeks to complete. Can your family function with one less bathroom in your home?
How Much You’re Willing to Spend
Many times, homeowners attempt DIY projects in an effort to save money. But, the reality is that DIY remodels often end up costing more money. It’s easy to underestimate the cost of doing a remodel yourself, and you’ll likely end up taking frequent trips to the hardware store, racking up a higher bill each time.
In the worst-case scenario, you’ll invest time and money into your project, be unable to complete it, and then have to hire a professional anyway. This means your “budget-friendly” DIY project will be more expensive than you ever could have imagined.

Benefits of Hiring a Professional Bathroom Contractor
After thinking through the considerations we outlined above, compare them to the many benefits of hiring a contractor instead.

Here at BathWorks, we have a proven process for remodeling bathrooms quickly and efficiently. In fact, many of our installations can be completed in as little as one day! When you hire a professional, you won’t have to worry about a long, drawn-out process. We’ll get in, do our job, and get out.
Contactors Have Access to High-Quality Materials
By hiring a contractor, you’ll get access to high-quality products at a more affordable price, since contractors partner with reputable manufacturers. Best of all, professional installers are trained and certified, so you won’t have to worry about any issues during the installation.
Contractors Offer Warranties
When you renovate your bathroom yourself, you’re responsible if there are any issues. By working with a contractor, you’ll get access to product warranties that can help give you peace of mind should any defects arise.

Arrived 3 weeks ahead of schedule! The day of the install went very smooth and Matthew was great through the process. Massive improvement for my small space! Very happy, so far.
Bathworks did a fabulous job on our shower. It had some custom things that needed to be done and they did a beautiful job. The two man crew were professionally and diligently all day and got it done in one day as advertised ❤️
As an engineer, I have worked on many projects. Brandon and Joe are among the best I’ve had the pleasure of working with. On time, very helpful with recommendations and excellent at cleaning up. The job was completed as promised and it looks great.
Jake, Ace & Jimmy did a great job replacing my old tub/shower combo with a walk-in shower with a chair and grab bars. They covered everything with drop cloths and cleaned up their mess completely when they were done. They explained the lifetime warranty, how to operate the water handle and shower head as well as the cleaning of the shower in full. We're very satisfied with the professionalism and friendliness of all of them. We would definitely recommend Bath Works for your bathroom upgrade.
Jake and Jared made sure to explain everything they were going to do, they laid out drop cloths to protect the carpet and when they were done they picked everything up and even vacuumed for me. During installation they double checked where I wanted things installed. They were professional in their manner as well as the fabulous job they did installing my new shower. I would encourage anyone thinking of redoing their shower to give them a call.
